'Identification of two accused, Rs 25 lakh for assistance in arrest'
Addressing a press conference,
Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar said that two accused involved in the rape the incident on the motorway three days ago have been identified and those who
helped in their arrest have been given a reward of Rs 25 lakh. Will be given

On the issue of controversial
statement regarding the case of CCPO Lahore Omar Sheikh, the Chief Minister
said that a show-cause notice has been issued to the CCPO and in case of
non-response within seven days, legal action will be taken.
Addressing a press conference, IG
Punjab Inam Ghani said that the accused had undergone the first DNA test and
the samples were matched.
The IG Punjab said that the police
were '95-96 percent 'sure about the DNA of the co-accused and they also had
the address and ID card number and hoped that they would be caught soon.
Inam Ghani said that the information
of the accused had reached the public due to which they must have got the
information and they managed to escape.
He said about one suspect when his the house was raided in which both he and his wife escaped but their youngest a daughter was found at home.
Protests in different cities of Pakistan
The motorway rape incident has
sparked outrage across the country and on Saturday there were demonstrations in
Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad in which a large number of people participated.
Demonstrators condemned the behavior
of CCPO Lahore in particular and demanded his resignation.
He also called for adequate training
for the police and judiciary to better handle international cases of sexual
violence and to ensure the safety of women during the investigation and trial
of cases.

Earlier, Dr. Shahbaz Gul, Special
Assistant to the Prime Minister for Political Relations said that the DNA of
the accused in the motorway rape case had been matched and an arrest would be
made soon.
In this regard, he said that the
Punjab Chief Minister was "with the IG and CCPO" till 4 pm and
"the Chief Minister has supervised the whole case himself".
It may be recalled that since
Saturday morning, there were reports in the local media that the police had
matched the DNA of the accused, but official sources could not confirm this.
After the news broke on the media,
Inspector General of Punjab Inam Ghani said that no accused has been arrested
in the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway rape case. A statement sent to the media from
the IG Punjab's office said that the news on various TV channels and social
media regarding the arrest of the accused was false and untrue.
IG Punjab has said that he is
personally monitoring the investigation of this case and will inform the media
about any success.
"Such unconfirmed news not only
affects the case but is also misleading to the public. The pictures of the
accused and the woman being shared on social media are also false and
fake."
"I request the media
representatives not to run any news without confirmation and I also request the
people to have faith in us. We will soon arrest the culprits and bring them to
justice," he added.
On the other hand, Provincial
Information Minister Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chauhan in a statement on Saturday
morning expressed hope that the case would be brought to a logical conclusion
in a few hours and therapists would be arrested.
Earlier, Chief Justice of Pakistan
Justice Gulzar Ahmed, while addressing the concluding session of a training
workshop for judges of commercial courts at a local hotel in Lahore expressed
deep concern over the incident on the motorway and said that it was a shame There was no security system or mechanism on the highway.
